Residents assessed the damage caused by an Israeli strike on a residential building in the southern Gaza town of Rafah on Friday morning.
Thursday night’s attack killed at least 23 people, according to the Al-Kuwaiti Hospital media office.
Fayza Sahaaban, a resident, described the attack: “We were sitting at home after we finished praying, and suddenly there was a knock.”__“I saw a fire here and I felt something hit my head”she added.
Following the attack, the bodies of the victims were placed on the ground in front of the Abu Yousef al-Najjar hospital in Rafah.
They were then loaded into vehicles.
The Israeli offensive in Gaza is now one of the most devastating military campaigns in recent history.
More than 21,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.
Another 55,600 people were injured, according to the statement.
These counts do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
Israel has pledged to dismantle Hamas – which still puts up fierce resistance, even in the north – and return more than 100 hostages still held by the militants after their October 7 attack in southern Israel. The assault killed some 1,200 people, most of them civilians.
Israel declared war after Hamas gunmen crossed the border on October 7.
