As part of the ‘Electric Dreams’ exhibition at Tate Modern, 70 artists show how technology transformed art between the 1950s and 1990s.

Electric Dreams celebrates the early innovators of optical, kinetic, programmed and digital art, who have paved the way for a new era of immersive sensory installations and automatically generated works.

From light projections to 16-bit game images, these artworks reveal how artists have reimagined technology, creating immersive and confusing experiences that bridge the analog and digital worlds.

On display through June 2025, the exhibition celebrates innovation that predates our current technological landscape.
