The court in Denmark, which includes Greenland, ruled that the Canadian-American citizen should remain in detention until October 2, while the Danish Justice Ministry examines Japan’s request.

Paul Watson was arrested on July 21 as his ship docked in the Greenlandic capital and faces up to 15 years in prison.
