Staff Sergeant Gordon Black34, had traveled to Vladivostok, a Pacific port city, to see his girlfriend and was arrested after she accused him of stealing from her, according to U.S. officials and Russian authorities.
Russia holds a number of Americans in its prisons, including Paul Whelanan ex-Marine, and responsible for corporate security in the civilian sector, but also Evan Gershkovichjournalist at Wall Street Journal.
The US State Department has recommended that US citizens avoid traveling to Russia.
