Three Israeli hostages were reunited with their families in an emotional return this Sunday, following their release as part of a ceasefire agreement.
Romi Gonen, 24, kidnapped at the Nova music festival, and Emily Damari, 28, as well as Doron Steinbrecher, 31, kidnapped from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, returned to Israel as part of the truce. Despite initial concerns about their health, all three were able to walk without assistance and will remain in hospital for observation.
Outside the hospital, hundreds of people gathered to celebrate their return.
The ceasefire, which raises hopes of ending a 15-month conflict, provides for the gradual release of 33 additional hostages over a period of six weeks. In exchange, Israel will release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
