Mahalla Al-Quds – Despite 14 months of house arrest, the Jerusalemite child Ayham Al-Salaymeh (14 years old) is facing three years of actual imprisonment.

The child, Al-Salaymeh, has been under house arrest since May 17, 2023, on charges of throwing stones at settlers in Jerusalem, while one of his brothers and two of his friends were released in the same case last November as part of the exchange deal between the occupation and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Ayham told Tel Aviv Tribune Net that he was arrested after his house was stormed at dawn in mid-May 2023, and then he was sentenced to home imprisonment, adding, “They arrested me without doing anything. I do not want prison. I was deprived of my education and my friends. I have the right to live like the rest.”

After the efforts of his lawyer, Ayham, a resident of the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan, obtained permission to go to school for the past three months, and he has proven his worth and excellence, according to his father, Nawaf Al-Salaymeh.

The father added that house arrest was imposed on Ayham because he was not yet of legal age for arrest, and now the Israeli prosecution is demanding an actual prison sentence of 35 months for him.

The father expresses his concern about the possibility of an actual prison sentence being issued at the court session scheduled for next July 17, bringing the total period of detention to 49 months.

The child’s father revealed that the occupation prosecution is seeking to impose on his son the remaining sentence for his friends who were released in the exchange deal. He expressed his deep concern for his son and his fate in light of the deteriorating conditions in prisons in particular.
