Videos broadcast by the Iranian state media seem to show the consequences of several explosions to Natanz’s nuclear installation, with plumes of smoke rising and distant lightning on the horizon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the strikes, saying that they were aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The Israeli army said that more than 200 planes had been used during the first wave, targeting nuclear and military sites across Iran in a mission called “erected lion”.
Iran has confirmed the death of superior commanders and nuclear scientists, promising reprisals while the supreme guide, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned of a “severe punishment”.
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that there was no radiation leak.
