The Baltic countries celebrate their membership in the European energy network, thus marking the end of electrical transmissions with Russia.
Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia celebrated their membership of the European energy system on Sunday by a symbolic ceremony, after having cut the transmission lines of the Soviet era, thus interrupting the flow of electricity between the Baltic countries and Russia.
This decision is of geopolitical and symbolic importance for Europe. Baltic states now depend on connections with Finland, Sweden and Poland.
