Taxi drivers in Athens went on strike on Thursday to protest a bill they say would unfairly increase competition with other private transport providers, such as minibuses.

Taxi drivers in Athens went on strike on Thursday to protesting a bill they say would unfairly increase competition with other private transport providerssuch as minibuses.

Around 150 taxi drivers drove through the city centre of the Greek capital in their yellow cars.

Their union has published a statement accusing the centre-right Greek government of “undermining the peace and professional dignity of taxi drivers”.
