Residents of Gaza’s Deir-el-Balah celebrated a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, offering hope of ending 15 months of devastating conflict.
The agreement provides for the gradual release of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners in Israel, which will allow those displaced in Gaza to return home.
Humanitarian aid will also be able to be delivered to Gaza without hindrance. Qatar’s prime minister announced that the ceasefire would begin on Sunday, after weeks of negotiations in Doha.
Details, including the list of released prisoners, are still being finalized and must be approved by the Israeli cabinet.
