The zoo collects fresh unsold fir trees from selected sellers and places them in the enclosures of some of its residents.

This year, the giraffes received a Christmas tree for the first time. Upon close inspection, Max the giraffe enjoyed himself, while Mugambi was less convinced by the unusual snack.

The zoo does not accept trees from the public, which may contain chemicals or leftover decorations.
