China opened its first training center for heterogeneous humanoid robots on Tuesday, in the Pudong district of Shanghai. Named “Kylin”, this center aims to promote interdisciplinary robotics, including Artificial Intelligence and “Machine Learning”. Currently, it can train more than 100 robots, with a goal of reaching 1,000 robots by 2027.
The center will collaborate with local robotics companies to build a large dataset comprising 10 million high-quality physical inputs by the end of 2025. These efforts aim to optimize the practical application of humanoid robots in sectors such as as manufacturing and utilities.
Faced with an aging population and global technological competition, humanoid robots are seen by China as a solution to workforce challenges and as a vector of industrial innovation. By 2030, the Chinese market for humanoid robots is estimated at 11.35 billion euros.
The Pudong factory also plans to unveil its next-generation robot, “Deep Snake,” incorporating advanced technologies for increased flexibility and intelligence. Separately, Beijing will host the first World Humanoid Robot Sports Games later this year.
