A herd of nine Asia elephants was transferred from the Melbourne zoo to the Werribe Open Range zoo, traveling a distance of 36 kilometers in five days.

Transported in air -conditioned containers, the group of elephants includes six adults and three elephants.

Lucy Truelleson, head of the elephant track project in Werribee, stressed the emotional importance of this trip. The new 21 hectare enclosure, funded by the government of the State of Victoria, cost 53 million euros.
