The demonstration, which was held on Monday, follows an increasing agitation in the country’s public health sector, with a federal prosecutor who is now investigating the Minister of Health for alleged arbitrary management of the institution specializing in cancer.
While resident doctors have been promised a wage increase from € 580 to € 950, the proposed increase excludes more than 90 % of permanent staff.
Union leaders warn that partial increase could deepen tensions and cause new strikes. Nearly 200 employees have already resigned, invoking working conditions that are deteriorating and insufficient wages to cover the basic costs within the framework of the Milei drastic austerity program.
