Severe weather, combined with snow and wind, led to thousands of flight delays and cancellations across the United States.

On Tuesday alone, FlightAware recorded 3,651 cancellations and more than 25,000 delays.

The cold snap is caused by an arctic surge which mainly affected the northeast of the country, but which was felt as far as the Mississippi Delta.
