Despite a second attempt, the pensioner’s persistence forced the thief to flee.
Although slightly bruised and shaken, Ron Croker is in good health. A fundraiser in his honor has already exceeded £2,000.
South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery. He remains in police custody before appearing in court on February 7.
