The family had returned during a cease-fire in January, hoping that their journey was finished after months of escape. The house was damaged, but it offered shelter, intimacy and a semblance of normality.
On March 18, the ceasefire ended with heavy bombings, the water deliveries stopped and the bombardments intensified. They moved to Manshiya, near Beit Lahiya, where the extended family gathered.
Israeli strikes quickly followed. A parent was killed. Without transport or money, they waited. Finally, they reached Gaza City, cleared the rubble and mounted tents.
Now, in their new shelter, fear and hunger remain constant while the bombardments continue.
