Venezuelan elected officials criticize the European resolution recognizing Edmundo Urrutia as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan National Assembly rejects the initiative of the European Parliament to call for recognizing Gonzales Urrutia as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
The European text denounces “electoral fraud” by the Maduro camp.
According to Venezuelan elected officials, the text is a “harmful aggression promoted by the fascist right of the European Parliament”.
Current Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been in power since 2013 and has an absolute majority in the Assembly.
Maduro’s re-election last July is widely contested.
