JD Vans, US Vice President, said that the United States, during the era of President Donald Trump, will choose carefully when it resorted to military power, and will avoid entering into open conflicts, in what he described as a break from previous US policies.
Vans said that the United States is facing serious threats from China, Russia and other countries, and it will have to preserve its technological superiority, with his comments during a speech at the American Navy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Vans, speaking to graduates who would become officers in the navy and the Marine Corps, added that the matter issued by Trump using the force against the Houthis in Yemen in the end led to a ceasefire as part of an agreement in which Ansar Allah group agreed to stop the attacks on American ships.
“We must be careful when we decide to direct a punch, but when we direct a punch, we direct a strong and judge,” he added.
“Unnecessary” struggles
Vans explained that some former presidents involved the United States in conflicts that were not necessary for American national security.
Vans did not specify these presidents, but his comments indicated that he meant his speech former President George W. Bush, a Republican who launched wars led by the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, and behind him Barack Obama, a democratic that continued the war in Afghanistan.
The American chaotic withdrawal in 2021 during the reign of Joe Biden is still the focus of sharp criticism from Trump.
“There is no more unlimited tasks, nor more open conflicts,” the US Vice President added.
Vans said that the United States enjoyed a period of domination after the fall of the Soviet Empire led by Russia, and that the American policies aimed at the economic integration of the competitors of the United States had opposite results.
