The text of the first stage of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which involves a limited exchange of prisoners, the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops and an influx of aid, is intentionally vague, according to Sultan Barakat of the University Hamad Bin Khalifa. According to him, this puts more pressure on the negotiations for the later stages.
