USAID: Conditions in Gaza are worse than ever News

Director of the US Agency for International Development, Samantha Power, said that the conditions in the Gaza Strip are worse than ever before.

Power explained in a post on the X platform on Thursday that the Israeli attacks and closure of border crossings make the distribution of aid very difficult.

She added, “Our partners working in the field of humanitarian aid in Gaza say that living conditions are worse than ever before.”

She indicated that her agency is communicating with the governments of donor countries in order to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need in Gaza.

Power had confirmed earlier this month that closing the crossings and not distributing aid increases the horrific human costs of the Gaza war, and spoke of a looming famine for more than half of the population of the northern Gaza Strip and about a quarter of the population of the southern Strip.

About 700,000 Palestinians living in the northern Gaza Strip suffer from a lack of food supplies as a result of Israel closing the border gates and not allowing aid trucks to enter the northern areas.

In the south of the Gaza Strip, the suffering of hundreds of thousands of displaced people increased in light of the closure of the Rafah land crossing and the Israeli occupation launched an attack on the region, causing the death and injury of hundreds during the past days.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza that has left more than 117,000 Palestinians dead or wounded – most of them children and women – and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
