The US Supreme Court, which has a conservative majority, recognizes a presumption of criminal immunity for Donald Trump, further delaying his federal trial.

This decision will likely push back any possible trial of the Republican candidate beyond the November 5 presidential election.

The highest court has recognized a “presumption of immunity“for official acts that Donald Trump has taken as president.

The Republican candidate for the White House called this decision “great victory for democracy and the American Constitution“.

Donald Trump is to be tried for attempting to interfere in the outcome of the 2020 election, including during the invasion of the Capitol in January 2021.
