The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip published today, Tuesday, a list documenting the names of 986 health sector workers who were martyred since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Strip until the end of last July.
The ministry stated, in a report attached to the list that it distributed to the media and of which Anadolu Agency obtained a copy, that it documented in the list – which came in 46 pages – the names, ID numbers, dates of birth, gender, profession and place of work of 986 Palestinian health sector workers who were martyred since the beginning of the aggression until July 31.
The ministry said it estimates that there are still dozens of health sector martyrs whose personal and professional data have not been documented or verified.
She pointed out that 868 names of health sector martyrs were monitored and registered in the database of martyrs of the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
She explained that the data of 118 names of martyrs from the health sector were not recorded because their bodies did not reach the hospitals as a result of being detained by the Israeli occupation forces or remaining under the rubble.
She pointed out that among the martyrs in the health sector, there were 5 who worked for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). She stated that among the martyrs, there were 706 males and 280 females.
Regarding the nature of the martyrs’ work, the ministry said in its report that 308 of them were working in the administrative and service sectors of various medical institutions, 260 were nurses, and 184 were working in auxiliary medical professions.
The list also included the names of 146 doctors, 76 pharmacists, and 12 health workers, according to the ministry’s report.

The doctors include 31 specialists, 50 dentists, and 65 general practitioners, according to the list.
The Ministry of Health indicated in its report that 44 of the health sector martyrs were working in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Israeli occupation army has targeted, raided and besieged most of the hospitals in the Strip, putting them out of service.
The occupation army focused its targeting on the main hospitals such as Al-Shifa Medical Complex, the largest and most important hospital in the Gaza Strip, and Nasser Medical Complex, the largest hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, in addition to the Indonesian, Al-Awda, and Kamal Adwan hospitals in the northern governorate, Abu Yousef Al-Najjar and Al-Kuwaiti in the city of Rafah (south), and Al-Aqsa Martyrs in Deir Al-Balah (center), according to previous statements by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
According to a previous report by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) published on May 27, the Palestinian health sector in Gaza has collapsed, and what remains of it serves at most no more than 15% of the wounded and injured.
