UNRWA: Two million displaced people in Gaza are besieged by hunger, thirst and disease news

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that more than two million displaced people in the Gaza Strip are besieged by hunger, thirst and disease, and said that obtaining meals has become an impossible task for families in the Strip.

According to what was reported by the Palestinian Children’s Agency, UNRWA confirmed that what the Israeli occupation allows to be brought in through the crossings, in terms of flour and foodstuffs, does not meet 6% of the needs of the population in the Gaza Strip.

She spoke about a severe crisis in the Gaza Strip due to the siege imposed by the occupation forces, which caused great difficulties in obtaining bread, after most bakeries in the south of the Gaza Strip were closed.

UNRWA indicated that the conditions of the displaced in displacement tents and shelter centers are tragic, in light of hunger and cold, and the inability of international organizations to meet the needs of the displaced, due to the scarcity of food and nutrition.

It called for the complete opening of the crossings and the entry of what the population needs to reduce the famine that exacerbated cases of malnutrition and various diseases in the Gaza Strip.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 148,000 Palestinians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
