The Republican-dominated House of Representatives refuses to vote on aid to Ukraine validated by the Senate and attempts to dismiss the Secretary of State responsible for immigration.

A few months before the American presidential election, the standoff between the Democrats, who have a majority in the Senate, and the Republicans, who control the House of Representatives, continues.

After announcing they would not vote in favor of aid to Ukraine passed by the Senate, Republicans are trying to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The latter, accused of having caused a migration crisis on the border between the United States and Mexico, was indicted by the House of Representatives, a first in nearly 150 years for a Secretary of State.

The impeachment procedure, however, has little chance of succeeding because it must be validated by the Senate.

US President Joe Biden called it“blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games.”

He had previously indicated that not voting on the aid plan for Ukraine would “Vladimir Putin’s game.”

Border security has risen to the top of the presidential campaign issues.
