In a new confirmation of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli aggression, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that a number of families in the southern Gaza Strip eat “one meal every two or three days,” while other families depend on “sharing food” with… each other.

The United Nations Office added, “From June 7 to 14, it conducted humanitarian assessments in the displacement sites of Deir al-Balah, Khan Yunis, and the Al-Mawasi area in Rafah (south). It found that people were living in tents in temporary, overcrowded shelters, noting that These shelters are “in dire need of repair and provide no protection from the extreme heat.”
Regarding food, the office said that many families reported that they eat “only one meal every day, and some eat one meal every two or three days, and they mostly rely on bread, sharing food with other families, and rationing stocks.”
“Access restrictions continue to seriously undermine the delivery of essential humanitarian aid and services throughout Gaza,” he explained.
Destructive war
According to the same assessment, “hundreds of thousands of displaced people in southern Gaza suffer from poor access to shelter, health care, food, water and sanitation.”
Regarding water specifically, the United Nations Office said that obtaining it is very difficult, as people are forced to stand in queues for long hours, and are forced to rely on seawater for domestic use.
The office added that there is “a continuous spread of infectious diseases in light of the overflow of sewage, the spread of insects, rodents and snakes, and the almost complete lack of hygiene materials and sanitation facilities.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support, leaving nearly 123,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, in addition to a severe shortage of humanitarian and food supplies that has reached the point of famine, especially in the north of the Gaza Strip.
Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, and to take measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
