The UN warns of “severe famine” in the Gaza Strip. A situation aggravated by the theft of the cargo of dozens of humanitarian trucks, which Israel blames on Hamas.

This is probably the only meal Yasmin Eid will cook for her family all day. With her husband and 4 daughters, this Gazan lives in a displaced persons camp in central Gaza. They have already been moved five times.

“For months we have been sleeping without food, without breakfast. Maybe just one meal that I manage to prepare for myself and my family, just one. The prices have skyrocketed, and we can’t afford anything. Of course, my family and I go to bed without dinner” Yasmin laments.

In recent weeks in Gaza, a bag of bread costs more than $13 and meat has almost disappeared from supermarket shelves. The UN has warned of a “sharp increase” in the number of people suffering from severe famine in the center and south of the Palestinian enclave. A situation linked, according to humanitarian workers, to the theft of nearly 100 aid trucks last weekend, for which Israel blames Hamas.

“Frankly, I find it difficult to talk about the suffering we are going through. I am ashamed to talk about it in front of others, knowing that a billion Muslims are watching us as we endure war and hardship. Our dignity has been violated, the children cannot go to school and the suffering is unbearable. What can I say? I am responsible for 25 people, but I cannot provide them with even a single bag of flour. explains Hani Eid, displaced from Jabaliya.

This Thursday, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister, accusing them of using “starvation as a method of war”. Israel categorically denies all accusations.
