Since the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, images of bodies wrapped in shrouds have been almost daily.

Among these deaths, there are many children. And the UN warns: the number of children killed in Gaza in four months is higher than the number of children killed in conflicts around the world in four years.

In the message, Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, refers to UN data according to which 12,193 children were killed in conflicts around the world between 2019 and 2023.

Figures that he compares to those provided by the Hamas Ministry of Health, which report more than 12,300 children dead in the Palestinian enclave between October and the end of February.

Children who don’t just die from bombs. Because they are also victims of famine and malnutrition.

The Gaza Strip has become a graveyard for children”, declared the communications director of UNICEF, who is calling for a massive arrival of humanitarian aid.
