UN rapporteur warns of extension of ‘Israeli genocidal violence’ to West Bank | News

The UN Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, warned on Monday that “Israeli genocidal violence” in Gaza could extend to the West Bank.

“Israel’s genocidal violence could extend beyond Gaza and across the occupied Palestinian territories,” Albanese said in a new statement.

She explained that “Israeli apartheid targets Gaza and the West Bank, as part of a comprehensive process of liquidation, replacement and expansion.”

Albanese considered that “the impunity granted to Israel for a long time has enabled the de-Palestinianization” of the occupied territories, and “left the Palestinians at the mercy of forces seeking to eliminate them as a national group.”

She called on the international community to “do everything in its power to put an immediate end to the threat of genocide against the Palestinian people” and “ultimately, to put an end to the settlement of Palestinian lands by Israel.”

According to statistics issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the Israeli occupation authorities have carried out demolition operations targeting 864 Palestinian facilities since October 7.

The Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club also said that the occupation forces have arrested no less than 130 Palestinians since the start of their latest military operation in the northern West Bank 6 days ago, and the arrests were accompanied by attacks and abuse of the detainees.
