The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, said that the time has come to take the necessary measures and do everything possible to stop the ongoing Israeli “brutality” in the Gaza Strip.
This came in a speech during her participation in a conference at the University of Vienna, Austria, entitled “The Israeli War: Colonial Ethnic Cleansing.”
Albanese confirmed that Israel is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
She added: “It is not permissible to describe what is happening in Gaza as just a war, as there are rules for wars as well, but what is happening there is comprehensive destruction.”
On Friday evening, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the “disaster” that befell the Gaza Strip represents a “total collapse of our common humanity” amid the continuation of the Israeli war of annihilation on the Strip for more than 14 months.
“The catastrophe in Gaza is nothing but a complete collapse of our common humanity,” Guterres said in a post on the X platform, adding that this “nightmare in Gaza must stop.”
The Secretary-General of the United Nations stressed that “we cannot continue to ignore what is happening” in the sector.
