The UN Security Council demands an “immediate” end to Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

The vote took place on Wednesday and the resolution was adopted with eleven votes in favor, four abstentions (from Algeria, China, Mozambique and Russia). There was no veto.

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have increased attacks in the Red Sea and disrupted international maritime traffic.

They claim to act against Israel and its allies, in solidarity with the Palestinians.
