Russian authorities are working to stem Russian military bloggers’ concerns about Ukrainian operations on the eastern bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.
The Russian defense minister claimed that Russian forces prevented all Ukrainian attempts to successfully carry out “amphibious operations in the Kherson direction.”
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Shoigu’s statement is likely an attempt to downplay concerns among some Russian military bloggers about Russia’s inability to decisively repel Ukrainian attacks on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, but it is unlikely to calm the ever-growing complaints in the Russian information space.
Russian military bloggers continue to acknowledge the Ukrainian presence in the eastern (left) bank of Kherson Oblast and complain about the inability of Russian forces to suppress Ukrainian operations in the region.
Russian sources say Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions in Krynky and near the Antonivsky road bridge and the small railway bridge located six kilometers east of the Antonivsky bridge.
The British Ministry of Defense says: “Fighting around Krynky continues: The fighting around Krynky is on a smaller scale than some of the major battles of the war, but will be seen as very regrettable by the Russian leadership.
Russia withdrew from the west bank of the Dnipro River a year ago, almost certainly in an effort to hold back Ukrainian forces west of the river, keep the area quiet and free Russian forces elsewhere .
