Ukraine: the Russian army targeted energy infrastructure

Ukraine denounces “massive” Russian attacks last night against its energy infrastructure. Strikes which left at least six injured, according to the authorities.

These attacks targeted electricity production and transmission facilities in several regions of the country, such as Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Poltava, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia. The city of Kherson, in the south of the country, was also “partially without electricity“, according to the governor of the region.

The enemy is not abandoning its plans to deprive Ukrainians of light. A new massive attack on our energy industry! ” wrote Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko on the Telegram platform.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that it had carried out the strikes “in response to the kyiv regime’s attempt to damage Russian energy infrastructure.”

The national electricity company Ukrenergo asked its customers “_to use electricity sparingly”_and warned that there would be power cuts.

Ukraine, which is in great difficulty on the ground and lacks ammunition and soldiers, has decided to mobilize detainees. Parliament has just adopted a bill allowing their mobilization into the army.

In Brussels, where the fate of Ukraine is worrying, the 27 EU member countries reached an agreement “of principle” to use frozen Russian assets, announced the Belgian presidency of the Union.
