Ukraine, the forgotten war? The financial and military aid of the Twenty-Seven in question

Published on :

While the world has its eyes fixed on the conflict in the Middle East, Ukraine fears paying the price for this polarization. Are Europeans capable of managing two high-intensity conflicts? Volodymyr Zelensky calls on the Twenty-Seven to maintain their support at the highest level, but they seem divided on several subjects: the continuation of military aid poses a problem for certain Member States, such as the Slovakia of the populist Robert Fico, who reaffirmed to NATO its desire to suspend arms deliveries.

Divergences also on the long-term budget of the European Union, which provides for new financial aid of 50 billion euros for Ukraine.

Especially since certain Member States are mitigating the effect of sanctions against Russia, such as Hungary, which still runs on Russian gas, and Cyprus, which is accused by an investigation by several media of having served for too long as a washing machine for Russia. Russian money.

However, the European Commission gave kyiv a very positive signal by advocating the opening of negotiations for accession to the Union for this country in the middle of war. Is the European Union doing enough to help Ukraine win this bogged-down conflict?
