Daria Redvanska is 11 years old since the Russian invasion, she has been taking classes from home.
“When there is a plane alarm, the lesson is suspended and I go down. We’re not allowed to be in the living room because there are too many windows.”
In the Kharkiv region near the Russian border. Underground schools are being built, they are designed to withstand a direct hit from a Russian missile, Vladyslav Hudochromov took part in the work.
“Here are the main spaces. The fallout shelter is built for three weeks so people can enter and stay there without leaving. Everything will be there, the Internet and all kinds of means of communication.”
The construction of this school is awaited by the educational team, including the director Svitlana Volchkova.
“It is very important for children to go out and meet each other. Children need to talk to each other, see each other and hold each other. So we wait and we hope and believe that this will soon be possible“.
It is both a school and a bomb shelter and will accommodate 400 people: 320 students and their teachers.
The school accepts children from across the region and specializes in arts and computing and caters for gifted children.
