Nearly 50 Russian drones struck Ukraine overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, killing six people and depriving a large part of Kherson of electricity.

Kherson station was bombed while more than a hundred civilians were waiting for the train to Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities announced on Wednesday.

A police officer was killed and several people were injured.

More than 100 people who were waiting for the train at the time of the attack arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday morning, state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia said.

The national railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia also assured that repair work at Kherson station has already started and trains are on time.

The bombing of the Kherson region has also left around 70% of the city’s homes without electricity, said regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

Targeting energy infrastructure was already a Russian tactic used last winter to try to break the spirit of Ukrainians by depriving them of heat and running water.

In Odessa, another drone strike left two people dead and three injured.

This air offensive comes the day after a Ukrainian missile strike on a Russian warship in the Black Sea.
