Russian forces struck several Ukrainian cities on Tuesday morning, including the capital Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky said on Tuesday that the massive attack on Kyiv and Kharkiv, during which Russia used more than 99 missiles of different types and 35 drones, left at least four people dead and 92 injured.
“So far, 92 people are known to have been injured. They are all receiving help. Unfortunately, four people were killed. My condolences to the family and friends”wrote the Ukrainian president on Telegram.
Oleg Sinegubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, spoke of at least six Kinzhal missile strikes that hit the center of the city.
In Kyiv, the capital, five districts of the city were hit by strikes, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. More than 100 people were evacuated from a burning building.
The Ukrainian army issued air alerts early Tuesday morning, indicating that Russian missiles threatened to fall on the country.
Increased air attacks
On Friday, Russian forces carried out a large-scale air attack across Ukrainian territory, killing at least 41 people.
The next day, a bombing on the Russian border town of Belgorod that Russian officials blamed on Ukraine killed at least 25 people, including five children. It was one of the deadliest attacks on Russian soil since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine began.
“They want to intimidate us and create uncertainty in our country. We will intensify the strikes. Not a single crime against our civilian population will go unpunished”Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday, calling the Belgorod attack a“terrorist act”.
Russia launched around 90 Shahed-type drones over Ukraine on Monday.
