Dozens of people queuing for humanitarian aid: a sadly familiar scene in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Volunteers came to distribute wooden panels, blankets and basic necessities to the residents of Selydove last Wednesday.

Located around twenty kilometers from the front line, the town was hit during the night by four Russian missiles.

_”They bombard us every day, millions of times!_God will make them pay for that one day.”says Ulia Antonivna, a resident of the city.

“Two missiles fell on our street. It is completely destroyed, says Kateryna, another resident. Our house is partly demolished. The bombings intensify. We didn’t sleep last night. It hit, hit, hit, until 4 a.m. Before we counted explosions. Now there are more than 30 per night. We can’t take it anymore.”

The attack destroyed the town’s hospital and a residential building, leaving three people dead, including a child, and at least twelve injured.

After working all night, rescue teams were still searching for bodies under the rubble.

Inna lived in the least damaged part of the building. But her daughter narrowly escaped death, she said: _”_My daughter slept here. The windows were shattered. And the door fell on her, in her bed. We are going to leave. We actually have nowhere to go. We are going to rent an apartment first. I hope we will be peaceful. And that we can come back here. Every day we hope that it will end soon. Otherwise everything will be destroyed.”

Rescuers don’t want to make an official comment, but off camera, they say this kind of scene is more than common. They come in several times a month, and it’s not the worst situation they’ve had to deal with.

The residents, for their part, whether they want to leave or stay, say they do not see the end of this war coming soon, which has given them no respite for two years.
