Ukraine recognizes Russian “tactical successes” in Kharkiv

Faced with the breakthrough of Russian troops, Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed his commander of the Kharkiv troops, the day after the Russian army’s offensive.

Located less than ten kilometers from the Russian border, Vovchansk has been under fire for several days. Moscow launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine, and its soldiers have been making rapid progress ever since. Faced with this progress, local authorities decided to evacuate nearly 6,000 people.

Kiyv recognized “tactical successes” Russians and admitted that the situation on the ground was “particularly difficult“. President Zelensky also fired his commander of the Kharkiv troops, the day after the Russian offensive.

Across the border, in Belgorod, emergency services were mobilized on Sunday to find survivors in the rubble, after the Ukrainian army strike which caused the collapse of a building. The toll is at least fifteen dead and around twenty injured.

Located around fifty kilometers from the border with Ukraine, in recent months, the Belgorod region has been regularly targeted by Kyiv.
