Kiyv and Kharkiv targeted by a salvo of Russian missiles: the Ukrainian authorities count at least 18 dead and 130 injured.
Heavy toll from a salvo of Russian missiles on Kiyv and Kharkiv.
Volodymyr Zelensky speaks of at least 18 dead, 130 injured and more than 200 buildings affected.
The Ukrainian army says it counted 41 missiles, around twenty of which were shot down.
These Russian bombings come at a time when the American Congress is blocking the new tranche of aid to support the Ukrainian war effort.
Pat Ryder, Pentagon spokesperson: “It is clear that the continued lack of funding has forced us to take a pause, removing additional items from our stocks. Given the implications for our own military readiness, this of course prevents us from meeting Ukraine’s most pressing needs on the battlefield, including artillery shells, anti-tank weapons and air defense interceptors.”
For his part, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs regrets the insufficiency of supplies of artillery ammunition.
According to Dmytro Kouleba, the Russian bombings demonstrate “the need to provide more anti-aircraft defense systems.”
