A Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire in the Russian town of Toropets. A partial evacuation of Russia’s Tver region is underway, according to the region’s governor Igor Rudenia. “Today, following the drone attack on the territory of the Russian Federation, the air defense system of the Ministry of Defense worked. The drones were shot down and a fire broke out when they fell. We are evacuating the population, residents, and maintaining public order.”

Ukraine said the attack destroyed Russian military warehouses in Toropets, a town in Russia’s Tver region about 380 kilometers northwest of Moscow and about 500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

NASA satellite imagery shows multiple heat sources emanating from the area Wednesday morning. The attack was carried out by Ukraine’s security service, as well as Ukraine’s intelligence services and special operations forces, a Kyiv security official told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the operation.

The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage showing what it says are Russian fighter-bombers striking personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region.

Russian forces also dropped three guided aerial bombs on a town in Ukraine’s Sumy region, injuring two people and damaging homes and vehicles.
