Ukraine beat Slovakia 2-1 for strong comeback at Euro 2024


The victory allowed Ukraine to get back on track after losing 3-0 to Romania in their opening match.

Roman Yaremtchouk scored as Ukraine came back from a one-goal deficit to beat Slovakia 2-1 on Friday and strengthen their hopes of reaching the round of 16 of Euro 2024.

This victory allowed Ukraine to get back on track after 3-0 loss to Romania during his first match.

Slovakia has took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a header from Ivan Schranz, who had also scored the only goal in their surprise 1-0 victory over Belgium four days earlier.

Oleksandr Zinchenko crossed low to the ground for Mykola Chaparenko, who scored Ukraine’s first goal of the tournament in the 54th minute.

Chaparenko also played a role in the second goal, by sending a long pass to Yaremtchouk, who controlled the ball from the first contact and then pushed it into the net of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
