Two Palestinians were martyred and 11 others were injured, Tuesday evening, in an Israeli bombing that targeted a gathering of citizens near the Netzarim axis between Gaza City and the Central Governorate. They were trying to return from the south of the Gaza Strip to its north.

According to eyewitnesses, “a group of displaced Palestinians gathered at the Al-Nuwairi Junction, west of the Nuseirat camp, tried to return to the northern Gaza Strip governorate via Al-Rashid Al-Sahili Street, near the Netzarim axis.”

The witnesses added that “Israeli vehicles quickly fired machine guns and artillery shells at the displaced people there, resulting in the death and injury of a number of them.”

The vehicles also fired dozens of lighting bombs into the air and sky of the Nuseirat camp and the Netzarim axis, and conducted sweeping and movement operations in the areas adjacent to the north of the camp, to ensure that there were no infiltrations or approaches to the axis, according to witnesses.

Israeli media reported that what they described as “80 armed terrorists attempted to invade Israeli military bases on the Netzarim axis.”

The Israeli army spokesman said, “Dozens of suspects who pose a threat are moving towards the forces operating in the central Gaza Strip (Netzarim), adding that our forces opened fire on them. There were no casualties among our forces and the incident is under control.”
