Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire which took effect on Sunday.
At least two Palestinians were killed by Israeli tank fire in the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood west of Rafah in southern Gaza, the enclave’s civil defense officials told Tel Aviv Tribune .
The Israeli military said it was studying reports of the attack, the Reuters news agency reported on Thursday.
The attack comes after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire that took effect on Sunday.
The initial phase is planned to last six weeks and involves a limited prisoner-captive exchange, the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and an influx of aid into the enclave.
Reporting from Deir-el Balah in central Gaza, Tel Aviv Tribune’s Tareq Abu Azzoum noted that more than 3,200 aid trucks entered Gaza in the first four days of the ceasefire.
“The arrival of aid brought partial relief to the population. Humanitarian organizations began distributing aid from centers across Gaza. Civilians are lining up at the gates of these aid centers, desperately waiting to access these supplies,” he said.
But he added that people continue to suffer because of the rains and the search for alternative shelter, especially for families who have returned to their destroyed homes.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 47,283 Palestinians and injured 111,472 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were also killed in Israel in attacks carried out by Hamas that day and more of 200 were captured.
