Two missiles were fired from Syria on the Golan, and Israel responded News

The Israeli army announced at dawn on Saturday that it had carried out strikes in Syria after two missiles landed in the occupied Syrian Golan.

The occupation army said in a brief message, “After the sirens sounded a short while ago in northern Israel, two missiles from Syria fell in a barren land. The army is currently striking the sources of fire.”

Agence France-Presse quoted the Israeli army as confirming that the two projectiles fired were missiles.

The occupation army did not specify the exact location where the two missiles landed, and the Syrian official media did not immediately report any news about their launch or the strikes that Israel spoke about.

Israel occupied parts of the Golan in a war June/June 1967, and announced its annexation to its territory in 1981, in a move not recognized by the United Nations.

The day before yesterday, Thursday, Israeli bombing targeted areas in Damascus and southern Syria, according to what the Syrian Ministry of Defense and official media announced.

A day earlier, Israeli Army Radio indicated that for the first time since the beginning of the war on Gaza, an explosive drone launched from Syria had fallen in the southern Golan, adding that the drone caused damage to a building, but no casualties were reported.

Israel rarely comments on specific strikes targeting Syria, but it has repeatedly said that it will not allow Iran and what it describes as its arms in the region to establish their presence there.

Since 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes on Syria, primarily targeting forces affiliated with Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah, as well as Syrian army positions.

But it has intensified its attacks since the start of its war on Gaza on October 7, which has left to date 21,507 martyrs and 55,915 injured – the majority of whom are children and women – in addition to massive destruction in residential neighborhoods, infrastructure, and hospitals.
