Two Britons killed by avalanche in the Mont Blanc massif


A mother and her son, of British origin, who were skiing off-piste, were among the victims. The accident occurred on Wednesday near the ski resort of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in Haute-Savoie.

The 54-year-old mother and her 22-year-old son were part of a group skiing away from designated slopes with an instructor when the avalanche, measuring 400 meters wide, occurred at an altitude of 2,300 meters nearby from the ski resort. from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in Haute-Savoie on Wednesday.

A third skier, the instructor, was also buried but was wearing an avalanche detector and was quickly found. He would have been slightly injured. Five other people fled, including the husband and father of the deceased.
