Activists on social media platforms reacted to the ambush broadcast by the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – in retaliation for the blood of the head of the movement’s political bureau, Yahya Al-Sinwar.
Al-Sanwar – who is described as the commander of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle – was martyred during a clash with the occupation forces in the Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah, in mid-October.
Al-Qassam broadcast a video documenting an elaborate Al-Qassam ambush against the occupation forces and its vehicles east of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, and called it “the first victory for the blood of Sinwar.”
Al-Qassam carried out the ambush on November 22 in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, and said that the operation began by sniping at Israeli soldiers, then targeting a “Merkava” tank and a military bulldozer with two “Al-Yassin 105” shells, then targeting an Israeli force barricaded inside a house with an anti-personnel shell.
According to official figures, the number of deaths in the Israeli occupation army has reached – so far – 808 soldiers, including soldiers and officers, since the war on Gaza, at a time when the resistance confirms that Israel’s human losses far exceed what it announces.
“Volunteer the impossible”
In its episode on (12/2/2024), the “Shabakat” program monitored some of the tweeters’ comments about the Al-Qassam ambush, which it carried out in retaliation and revenge for Sinwar, and its pledge to broadcast a second qualitative ambush in the next few days.
Rola commented, saying, “The Al-Qassam men in this battle attempted the impossible in military science and combat methods, and made it possible to harm the face of Israel.”
Naji praised the operations of the military wing of the Hamas movement, saying, “From underground, Al-Qassam monitors the movements of Zionist soldiers above the ground, and sets ambushes for them based on accurate intelligence information.”
Najwa pointed out in her tweet the extent of the difficulties that Al-Qassam fighters face in carrying out specific operations against the occupation, as she said, “The Rafah ambush, resistance in areas where the army is present, the possibilities of bombing and capture are huge, and yet they set up ambushes.”
Haitham went in the same direction, saying, “I watched the video of the Qassam ambush, their strength, courage, and combat and tactical capabilities, despite all this crime against them and the destruction inflicted upon them.”
The American New York Times newspaper quoted Israeli officials as saying, “Israel has strengthened its military presence in the central Gaza Strip in recent months, building military bases and demolishing Palestinian homes, in a move that indicates that it seeks to remain there for a longer period.”
