Social media platforms reacted to the Israeli occupation army publishing the results of an extensive investigation it conducted into the circumstances of the killing of 6 Israeli prisoners inside a tunnel in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The incident occurred on February 14, when the occupation army carried out an air strike, which it described as “precise,” and said it “targeted a terrorist infrastructure in which leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) were located.”
On August 20, the Israeli army reported that it had returned to the targeted area and found the bodies of 6 prisoners, along with 6 militants.
The occupation army investigation noted that the bodies of the six Israeli prisoners were found with gunshot wounds, while no similar signs were detected on the bodies of the gunmen.
The investigation suggested two possibilities regarding the killing of the prisoners: the first was that the gunmen killed the six prisoners simultaneously with the Israeli bombing, and the second was that the Israeli raid caused the death of all of them, and this is a high probability, according to the investigation.
Occupation army spokesman Daniel Hagari said, “It is not possible to determine conclusively whether the prisoners were killed by gunfire or as a result of exposure to the effects of the attack, given the long period between their death and the forensic examination.”
After publishing the results of the investigation, Israeli Channel 12 quoted the families of the prisoners as saying that the Israeli army admitted to them that it had killed 6 prisoners during the raid on Khan Yunis.
What did tweeters say?
The results of the Israeli investigation into the killing of 6 Israeli prisoners in a tunnel in Khan Yunis received widespread interaction on virtual networks, as the “Shabakat” program monitored some of the comments in its episode on (12/5/2024).
Abu Mahdi Al-Asadi commented, saying, “We are tired of the false narrative and lies that we are accustomed to hearing from the Israelis. The militants were bitten by a snake and the prisoners were executed. What is this nonsense?”
Sondos Amir tried to refute what was stated in the Israeli investigation, and said, “The kidnapped (prisoners) have traces of gunfire on them, and the gunmen do not. So, how were the gunmen martyred? These are confusing and unconvincing statements.”
Muhammad shed light on the number of Palestinian martyrs who fall during the occupation’s air raids or ground incursions in the hope of recovering his captives, and said, “Six Zionists versus 450 Palestinians, and you talk and repeat and calculate and repeat. Is their blood blood and our blood water?”
The disclosure of the results of the investigation coincided with what Reuters published regarding what it said was an internal statement from the Hamas movement, dated November 22, stating that the movement had information about Israel’s intention to carry out an operation to rescue prisoners similar to the Nuseirat camp operation.
According to the internal statement attributed to it, Hamas advised its members to tighten the living conditions of the prisoners as an immediate and rapid response to any Israeli adventure.
Commenting on the results of the Israeli investigation, Hamas said that the occupation army’s admission of responsibility for the killing of 6 of its prisoners “confirms the validity of the movement’s story and the invalidity of the occupation’s story, and that military pressure does not free its prisoners but rather kills them.”
