Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç announced that his country has opened an internal investigation into the killing of activist Aisha Noor, and will transfer its results to the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
Tong said at a press conference in the capital Ankara on Thursday that the Turkish public prosecutor has launched an investigation into the killing of Ayse Nur Ezgi Egi by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank, and “the investigation is based on our authority arising from domestic law.”
He added, “Our sister Aisha Nour was martyred by a bullet to the head, and there are scenes of what happened, everything is there, we have the evidence, we will preserve her rights until the end in local law and the international system as well.”
The Anadolu Agency correspondent said that measures will be taken against those responsible for the premeditated murder under the heading of a crime against humanity, noting that the public prosecutor has opened an investigation into the incident within the framework of crimes committed against Turkish citizens in a foreign country, according to Articles 12 and 13 of the Turkish Penal Code.
Aisha Noor’s family called on the US President, Vice President, and Secretary of State to “conduct an independent investigation into the unlawful killing of an American citizen and ensure full accountability for the parties involved.”
The Turkish president also vowed in a speech he gave after a government meeting to continue pursuing Israel at the highest levels and through the International Court of Justice as well.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced today that Aisha Nour’s body is scheduled to be transferred to Turkey tomorrow, Friday, and said in a statement today that the procedures related to transferring the body have been completed by the Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Consulate General in Jerusalem.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its condolences to her family, saying, “We once again condemn the murder of Aisha Noor by the genocidal government of Benjamin Netanyahu and will do our utmost to ensure that it does not go unpunished.”
Aisha Noor’s body is expected to be transferred from Ben Gurion Airport to the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, and then to Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight. The activist’s burial procedures are expected to take place in her hometown of Didim in Aydın province, western Turkey.
Last Friday, the Israeli occupation army killed activist Aisha Nour with live ammunition while she was participating in an activity denouncing settlements in the town of Beita in the Nablus Governorate in the northern occupied West Bank. The Palestinian forensic medicine confirmed that the activist was killed by an Israeli sniper bullet to the head during a peaceful protest.
