On Monday, the Prosecutor in Istanbul ordered the arrest of two journalists in one of the major satirical magazines in Türkiye due to the publication of a cartoon drawing the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him, according to local media.
The Public Prosecution said that it “opened an investigation into the publication of a caricature on June 26, 2025 from Lehman’s magazine, clearly insults the religious evaluation, and arrest warrants were issued against those involved.”
A copy of the white and black drawing, published on social media, showed a photography that appears to be the Prophet Muhammad with the Prophet Moses, and they knew and shakes together in the sky of a city bombed.
After the news of the satirical drawing spread, dozens of angry demonstrators attacked a bar that Lyman’s employees went to in the center of Istanbul, which led to the outbreak of skirmishes with the police who tried to confront them.
Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya said that the police stopped the cartoonist responsible for the image, and posted footage on the X platform showing his arrest.
The publication said, “The person called DP, who drew this degenerate drawing and was detained, was arrested, adding that” these rude people will be held accountable before the law. “
According to media reports, the journalists are the editor -in -chief and director of Lehman Magazine.
